I have never bought a DVD box set! I might have to break this habit to get The Wire though.

I have a lot of episodes of Porridge and Dad's Army what I keep in a box....

I was bought the Dad's Army box set in January. Very gentle comedy - I've been dipping in to the odd episode now and then, and still got 3/4 of them to watch. Daughter has bought me one season of The Good Life too which is waiting in the wings.

has to be The Wire.

absolutely brilliant

That took over as my numero uno but only before we committed ourselves to The Sopranos which, deservedly, took over. Interestingly enough, most of the actors who appeared in 'Goodfellers' showed up in The Sopranos but you know who was originally slated to appear in the Ray Liotta and Lorainne Braco roles in 'Goodfellers' and would then have had to appear in The Sopranos? Incredibly enough it was Tom Cruise and Madonna! Imagine that; Madonna appearing in a good film (or would she have sent it down the khazi?)

Firefly.

Best Sci Fi series in the last ten years, and a great shame it got canned so early. Still, in some ways that actually meant that the possibilities it opened up which went unanswered add to the mythology. Top show.

This is what puts me off some boxed sets - I think I'd only ever buy something that I'd want to watch more than the once, even if I left a goodly time between viewings.

Might plump for the Enterprise boxed set next I think - not greatly into Star Trek nowadays, but quite liking the retro feel of this incarnation - especially since they announced Channel One is going (the only place I can watch it on tv at present).

WHAT!?!

Did they say if there is anywhere else I might be able to get my hit of Chuck?

+1 for the carry on films. Faves are 'Don't lose your head' and 'Doctor' (not 'again doctor')

Does anybody remember Tales From The Gold Monkey (or similar title)? That was a brilliant sort of Indiana Jones thing for the telly. I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
