Just signed for Moonrakers and Sunseekers, overnight 300k from Bristol, on 7th November. It was very good last year, and I'm hoping for mild night temperatures again. Any risk of ice though, as I understand there was in 2023, and I will think again.

Probably the Richard Ellis Memorial 100 in Oct. Then a Dart to the Auk Reunion in Derby.

Anyone interested in London-Wales-London in 2026 should google the website, as entries open this weekend, and spaces will soon sell out.

I loved, no, absolutely adored it earlier this year. It was that perfect blend of nervous anticipation, the camaraderie of familiar & new friends, landmarks, landscapes, crafty beer stops, perfect temperatures and glorious weather that made it my best ever day on a bike, without question.

Even some initial discomfort and confidence wobbles were soon behind me, and only made the achievement still sweeter when I finally rolled over the finish line, nearly 24 hours after starting.

Those happy memories kept me grinning like an idiot for weeks; and i wonder if another go could ever recapture those feelings. So tempting....

Richard Ellis Memorial 100 today. Storm Amy edition but winds were fine if a little stiff on the return leg.

And never has chilli and rice tasted so good ....
I found the last few hours quite grim but do'nt think I was alone as there was a steady stream of exhausted type 2 misery rolling into the arrive.

Aye, when the headwind died down the rain started.
My arrival at the arrivee coincided with the last portion of chili in the pan. Adrian Hands would have been proud .

Have signed up to the Flatlands 600 in May.
And also "Last gasp" in July, same distance.

The plan isn't to do both. Last Gasp is a Plan B in case I' not ready for the Flatlands; I'm quite busy at work, my father-in-law is still seriously ill, and there's a whole load of other stuff too; there isn't much time for cycling or training. It's a lot further than my longest ride to date, which was only 400km.

Haven't even been on my bike since November, just a handful of brief Boris Bike rides. Am unfit, and starting to feel the aches & pains associated with being a "non-cyclist" !!!

Really need to get my leg muscles & cardio vascular system into semblance of fitness, and start to enjoy the open air again.
And I REALLY hope my shoulder/neck muscles will be okay on my next audax - have been doing some physio exercises...
