I hope they are just like that!

They had Grandma to visit last week, She taught the elder one about roman numerals (it came up when they went to a museum), and he took to the idea really well, even writing sums out for himself to solve. I'm wondering whether to teach him binary.... He's 6, and apparently a year above himself in maths.

You know those tee-shirts that say "There are 10 types of people, those who understand binary and those who don't." Can you get them for kids?^_^

Oooh lovely. Never tried to do sums in Roman numerals. I'd need to convert back and forth. Brainy for sure. I just hope the school system doesn't slow him down to a crawl. As for the Tea shirt - there must be a supplier out there somewhere.

I think he's still doing the sums by converting - my Mum wasn't actually sure of the method herself. I've looked it up online though, so I've got a bit on an idea.

It's the school who've put him up a year for maths, so hopefully they're good a spotting his strengths.

For the sake of fairness, his little brother looks set to be a sportsman, or possibly a comedian. He's got better coordination and balance.

I have an old mate from Coventry coming up for the weekend. No - it is not dave r ...

We have known each other nearly half a century now, a fact which leaves me feeling pretty stunned!

He is not a cyclist, so I'll see if I can persuade him to walk over a few of the local hills instead. If he thinks the hills will be too much, there are a couple of nice level walks we could go on.

It's not anyone I know is it?

Saturday we are swapping our little under-counter freezer with a taller upright freezer with a friend as she needs an under counter and we need a taller one.
Sunday we are riding in the Fakenham 50
Monday we are flumping about and doing chuff all.

Nope - that would be more like 40 years ago rather than 50!

He phoned earlier to confirm that he will be arriving tomorrow.

Unfortunately, he accidentally walked into his PC this evening and stubbed his arthritic toes, so he isn't going to want to do much walking. Looks like a lazy weekend for me, since I can't very well dump him off somewhere and go out by myself!

Give him long multiplication in roman numerals and witness brain meltdown.

Do I need to get the spray plaster out?
Today when I finish the mountain of ironing from small people's holidays we shall be cycling to the country park to do the trail & no doubt small people will require ice-cream. Then I shall be re-packing for the eldest small person.

Tomorrow & Monday depend on the disgusting-ness of the weather & the continued recovery of tiredness in small people, we might go & pick some strawberries, we might do some painting, we might do some baking, we might go crabbing on the Quay & have a ferry ride.

We shall defiantely be attempting to convince parents that I am not irresponsible and that I was being sarcastic when I said I would wild camp with a 3 y/o and I have no intention of putting a 6 y/o on a heavily used dangerous windy country road and that when I said small tent I meant smaller than the enormous 12 berth we used to use and that yes you can get waterproofs that keep you dry in the rain

Work, then still at work after sleep in. Then work again.
On the other hand I get time off when the roads aren't clogged with Sunday drivers and everywhere nice is dripping with dawdling tourists and grouchy, mucky kids.
