I don't do Christmas decorations.
Ditto. In fact, I have the most minimal Christmas and New Year that I can without upsetting people too much. It's a balancing act. I wouldn't actually 'do' those 'celebrations' at all but people get really funny when you tell them that you'd rather not see them until January or February!

They see a fun, exciting time; I see OTT commercialism and hype. I try to be nice to people all year round and enjoy myself when I can, not when somebody tells me that I should, especially when it happens to coincide with some of my worst times with S.A.D.!

If I could afford it and I didn't have to consider other people's feelings, I'd take my bike to somewhere warm like Tenerife and ride in the sunshine from mid-December to mid-January!

(Having said all of that ... I'll switch my avatar to the Santa hat one in mid-December!)

I bought a black xmas tree on sunday, Mrs Fox and I tried a dress rehearsal with the led lights I bought to make sure there were enough. Anyway, it looked so nice in my lounge that its staying up, twinkly lights 'n all sorts.

This is the first year I will have had a tree and deccies in my flat, normally do minimalist. Funny thing, a womans influence.

23rd December (minimalistic) and really only for Mum who lives with us. They come down on the 27th which in our book is when Christmas finishes. I/we have only considered 24th, 25th and 26th to be the days of Christmas. Unlike retailers who prefer you to have 3-4 months. Town decorations went up and the beginning of November. And as for the Christmas music that is played everywhere you go … sigh; play something decent if you must, not all these rap type Christmas 'tunes.'

There's one house on my commute where the owner really goes to town with outdoor decorations (now there's an idea for a forum thread - 'Most extravagantly xmas-decorated house on your commute' - upload photos, etc?). Owners started to put up the scaffolding/framework on Halloween, so as to get the lights up in time. There's forward planning for you!

The family females will be doing it this weekend while the males are at the football. This is how it should be done as neither of us has any patience for it.
Usually come down on 1st Jan

No decorations here either and the only Christmas spirit will be a bottle of Baileys and as much brandy as I can get away with in the brandy butter.
