I'm at that age (and appearance) now where folk sometimes tend to treat you like you are slightly senile. I wonder how the Halfords staff would react if I went in there, showing them this 52 year old advert, asking where the items in the advert were and could I pay by cheque?! I do have a few 1970's clothing items somewhere in my flat, bought from the retro clothing shop work in. I could wear them and buy a bottle of Brut aftershave from a pound shop, to add to the affect. I wonder how the staff member I approached would react?! 🤔 I think it'd be one of those 'I'll just get the manager moments'!😁 😉

I remember reading somewhere that Halfords European stores were mainly bikes with a few car accessories at one point. Probably no longer, if they still even operate in Europe anymore.

I went into a Halfords with a frame I just had refinished, got chatting to the till assistant about old Raleighs, it turns out he's a fan too, and also has an album of old Halfords adverts going back to the twenties.

Inspired by Evel Knieval I attempted to break the sound barrier on a Raleigh Chopper at age 7.

That my hereo Mr Knieval spent most of his career in traction didnt register with me, and as I approached transonic speeds I lost control and it spat me off, putting me in hospital all summer with a broken pelvis.

BTW, that malarkey about the controls being reversed at transonic speeds is b******s! If anything thats what probably ended the record attempted for me. Damn you to Hell John Justin, damn you to Hell!!!

I had two choppers.
The first I crashed and hurt myself.
The second, I came off at 30+ down a steep hill and slid along the ground taking skin off all 4 limbs, my left eyebrow and broke my left kneecap and crawled to the toilet for 2 weeks but apart from that, I was fine.

VOXSON 8-TRACK RADIO USED IN JENSEN INTERCEPTORS | eBay UK https://share.google/JNtr2ZiL74oYLjK39
I think the seller is being a bit optimistic with that asking price.
I've got the 8track player from my dad's Ford Escort in a box somewhere, and the only 8-track cassette i remember him having; Trini Lopez

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
I don't think it was. I got my Binatone landline phone from Argos.
You're right. Binatone is an independent brand and has been around since the late 50s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binatone.

I got my Binatone cassette player, which was my pride and joy, from Shoppers World in the mid 70s. Shoppers World was a Woolworths catalogue store and a precursor of Argos. Regarding branding I think I'm getting Binatone mixed up with Winfield.

I wore Winfield branded trainers back in those days.
