Clipless pedals are said give you more power as you can physically pull your feet up in the pedal as well as simply pushing down, etc etc, and having happily cycled about using SPDs for ages (with the occasional clipless moment, I admit), I now find that cycling without my SPDs has highlighted this brilliantly!

I just cannot get the same sort of acceleration or power going up a hill for example.

Traveling down the centre of the road through stationary traffic until I could go no further. Pulled in between two cars and un-clipped, but the road had a strange camber and fell over in the other direction.

Day 3 of my clipless adventure. Had worked out unclipping my left foot at a junction worked best for me.
Got to the bottom of our lane, unclipped and promptly leaned right???
I still laugh about it every time i stop at that junction.
Bike was fine, but i had a bloody right knee and the tracky bottoms got relegated to gardening duties :tear
