I didn't arrive in Coventry till 1973 so I don't remember the rolling fields, but I have seen pictures, and it did look nice, as did a lot of the Warwickshire countryside they built on as Coventry expanded.

Hopefully, what is left of the 'green belt' between Coventry and Birmingham will be protected, but I bet if you were to come back in 100 years time you would find a horribly big North/West Midlands mega-city!

Since I don't drive, I don't have a legal way of getting there...
Mind you, on one of my West Midlands rides, I discovered a back way in!
Here is the view from the bridge over the M6 just round that bend...
The fields you can see in the background on the left of the picture are what the whole area was like when I cycled round there as a child.

As a young child I remember the regular drive from Stockport to Poulton-le-Fylde to visit my Grandma and we used to stop off in Corley on the way home at a very nice ice cream shop. Then the motorway came along bypassing Chorley and there were no more ice cream stops.I predate Corley Services!
