Which mudguards??

42 mm though, seems too big.
The 42mm SKS Bluemels for the low price of £12.99 at Decathlon look fine on 25mm 700c tyres. Here on my old Raleigh below:

Those bamboo mudguards remind me of a pair of steel mudguards with almost no wrap-around that I had (still have in the shed). The quality was good but I didn't half get a lot of stray spray - I didn't notice it when riding but certainly noticed the resultant muck on the bike afterwards (and I had a good sized home-made mudflap on the front guard). So I decided to replace them and went for something quite different - SKS longboards. They do a really good job.
