So I might enjoy it haha, everyone in my family have laughed at me and said ill quit.....or have a heart attack, but I think I will manage no problem. Got a big tub of vaselene for nappyrash and that haha
Go for it oh fellow Mackem.
As mentioned, once at parkhead cafe then it's a piece of p***.
To the bottom of Hartside is a relative doddle, and Yes, start at Melmersby as the C2C route is quite nasty comparative.
Crawleyside bank from Stanhope is a bar-steward but it is also the last real climb on your run home on day3.
At around 150 miles it's not too bad doing about 60 per day - depends on your stopovers.

That's where we stopped on our 2.5 day version. 2nd night in Consett, at the end by lunchtime on day 3. Loved the huge theodolite sculptures in Consett!

A spare tyre is a good shout I reckon, assuming it's one you can fold and store easily. I had a tyre split on me near Elsdon last summer. My pal Mark was not impressed that he had to come and pick me up in his van.

As for the ride, take it easy. You've got all day to do a manageable distance. Look after yourself on the overnights and you'll be absolutely fine.

Four of us did that route four years ago in May... it was brilliant and I'd do it again... have a great time. You could avoid the stanhope bit by going off road up to Park Head which is what we did... managed up it on a hybrid so MB will be a doddle up there.
