Men:

Pog and MVDP as they are just pure racers. Remco to a certain extent but he can be a bit surly. As a Welshman, G obviously not just because of what he’s achieved but also that laid back humour (which as Luke mentioned on Sunday masks the work he puts in).

Women:

Vollering and Kasia again as they are pure racers (I’ll also admit to far more shallow reasons). Evita Muzic purely for the great name and Reusser for the pure power she puts down. Zoe Backstedt as I’ve watched her race since she was about 8 and used to race against her mum!

Just re-read the 3 rider limit so:

G
Pog
MVDP

Demi
Kasia
Zoe

Really liked Ben Healy’s efforts this tour. Still like Marianne Vos mixing it with the youngsters.

Women:

Lizzie Deignan - a gutsy and no-nonsense racer, and a nice person who I met in the run up to the 2012 Olympics. She is largely responsible for any interest I have in pro cycling.

Evie Richards - just keeps churning out performances against a talented pool of competitors.

Fem Van Empel - just relentless.

Men… it’s funny but I generally prefer watching women’s cycling (across all disciplines) so have limited awareness of the men, certainly not enough to have developed any favouritism. Of course this means more limited opportunities to watch as the women don’t get the multi-week stage races that the men do, and with the way TV coverage has gone.

Why don’t you like Vos?
I don't think @No Ta Doctor was implying this - the words were in response to my earlier post.

Over the years I've seen a number of moves in races I haven't liked very much. But note that I was careful to acknowledge the huge inspiration she continues to be to a generation of young women - a bit more important than anything I might think.

Yeah, I assume @Cathryn was actually asking you, albeit in a reply to me, but the limited quote depth disguises that.

Especially as I did list Vos in my "can't count to three without using both hands" list of favourite riders

Excellent mention for Evie Richards! I’d been thinking about the road but Evie is incredible! Such an amazing role model for young cyclists of both genders and honestly, for this middle aged pootler as well. Whenever I’m on my MTB and a bit nervous, I find myself chanting ‘Be like Evie Richard’s’ in my head…which may be weird but it’s true!
