The bloke from the inbetweeners playing Pike should be OK, he's very good at playing the fool.

Isn't he too old? I assumed that Pike was meant to be under 18,otherwise he'd be in the actual army. Of course, in a sitcom you have to cast differently to get someone who can look youngish for the run - which was 9 years!

It sounds worryingly like Last of the Summer Wine in ill-fitting, itchy uniforms. I wonder if there will be a scene where someone careers downhill in a bathtub?

The original (while being quite duff in places) is just too established and in our DNA for there to be a copy with a new cast.

It is only acceptable to have a changeable lead role in Dr Who or Bond. Everything else should live or die with the original cast.

It really would be better to just write a new script with new characters.
