Ah, the good old days of serfdom, plague, leprosy and eating turnips. What's not to love?

Average lifespan about 40. No modern remedies for illness, maybe herbal remedies, bleeding, cupping and leeches. No anaesthetics or antibiotics. No clean water unless you were lucky. Lice, fleas and internal parasites were an accepted part of life. A life ruled by the church. Ignorance and superstition was rife. Education was reserved for the privileged, not even that if you were a woman.
A vast gulf between the privileged, who had power of life and death, and the peasantry.
Gripping as a costume drama or a thundering good read, not so hot to live through. No time to sit about in a smoky room with your eyes watering when you probably would spend all your waking hours working at something just to exist, unless you were one of the privileged few.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Like a lot of films, it sounds great but in practise would be dreadful. No sanitation, no medicines, no Drs, no proper heating. Dreadful Inadequate fabrics for clothes. No supermarkets. No transport.

Diseases and deaths that today we can cure. Thanks but no thanks.
