It already feels like winter to me, freezing cold, pouring with rain at the moment and the wind is intense along my stretch of coast!

I've just gotten back from a curry, so I don't think the very warm restaurant helped me as I walked out to the Arctic freezer... and to make matters worse I dropped my cycling glasses and trod on them in the dark

Riding back with a face full of grit and rain and wind blowing into your left eye isn't particularly pleasant... at least my right one was fine

Having spent about a year saying "I'll cycle to work tomorrow" then looking outside in the morning and convincing myself it might rain a bit, and I don't have the kit to cope with it so I'll drive instead... I got caught in a shower last week, got drenched cycling home... Loved it! There was actual steam coming off my legs when I got in. I thought I needed to spend a fortune on waterproofing every bit of my body, but why bother? The only thing I didn't like so much was the soggy feet, other than that it was kinda fun.

Not sure I'll enjoy snow & hail so much though!

Shoe covers are your friend. I can cope with a lot of things but cold, wet hands and feet are not amongst them...

I love cycling in what may be perceived as slightly difficult weather. I remember years ago before I had a clue about anything I used to fly around on a cheap MTB. I've absolutely no idea how I didn't come off during the snow/ice. I'm looking forward to trying it on my current bike; I'll be buying or improvising kit as I go and as the winter deepens.

Gutted at the moment, sold my commuter last weekend and new bike is not going to be with me for at least 4 weeks leaving me with just my summer bike which I have rode in today but really don't fancy using for this time with the weather and roads.
