Adam Steltzner is the brainiest guy alive. If you know someone else who managed to get a 1 tonne nuclear powered robot successfully onto the surface of another planet then be my guest.

In America he's a bit like Brian Cox is over here, a celeb scientist/engineer, but I know who I'd want on my side in a bar fight.

What @User said.

I am surrounded by ultra intelligent people at work. For most of them it seems to be a very narrow field of brilliance. For other things such as making eye contact, dressing themselves, personal hygiene, cooking and all other every day activities.

I reckon the cleverest person gets through life healthy, happy and with no troubles.

Had a man made that remark the insinuation being that she no longer a looker, then they would rightly have been pulled up for their comments.
Edit: God damnit! Now you have me talking about a smart woman's looks instead of her achievements.

Edit 2: After reading this, I'm not clear what her achievements are.

She's not alone. According to this list, 10% of the top 30 brains waste their time playing chess. TBF Garry Kasparov now spends his time attacking Putin.

Also, Ruth Lawrence at #5. She was born in Brighton and passed her Maths O level aged 9. I lived in Hove at the time. She should have made the local news at least, but she doesn't ring a bell.
