Mines never been left on all winter. Its not been a winter. It might have been on on odd days but generally, no need. We're windows open people anyway, can't stand a hot bedroom.

We've got a setting on our thermostat which has an icon that shows the ice caps melting, and people living in low lying countries fleeing their homes to head for higher ground. Mrs S always has the heating set to this.
I just sit in the kitchen with my shorts on and the back door open, which seems to annoy her somewhat

My mothers modern bungalow with all the latest insulation hardly needs heating,.
my 30's 9inch solid brick house is a cold building...the new roof is upto spec but the walls just lose heat.
the DG windows help but old houses are costly..

i remeber our house in the early 70's..no central heating and polythene over the windows in winter..
coal burner was nice..

I keep turning it off :heat:, but Mrs Pete insists on turning it back on again... :cold:

Let the bi-annual battle commence

With us its the other way round, my Good Lady's always warm and I'm always cold, when we were younger it was the other way round. Our heating is on early morning and late evening but off during the day.

Still on auto , but stats are also timed and variable temp so not on much at moment . Mainly gets overridden if needs be. Or I have got properly cold in work and not warmed properly on ride home.

Barnet,
Mrs P keeps turning it back on. Once the temperature has got to the level where the thermostat turns it off, Mrs P gets cold within minutes and turns it up again, and so it goes on, I can't win.

Central heating barely feels the need to come on thanks to my modern, insulated flat. However my office at work is a stuffy, energy sapping, Petri dish pathogen breeding ground, hell hole thanks to colleagues who at the slight hint of anything below 10c outside feel the need to have the air con heating on full max causing me to quite literally melt at my desk, gasping for cool, normal temperature air.

My digital thermostat informs me that the current temperature in my living room is 13.5 degrees...

The heating isn't on, and won't be unless it perhaps gets a bit nearer 11 degrees.

I'm off out into the garden shortly to do manly things with power tools, so there's bugger-all chance of the heating being on later - I'll be sweating me cobs off...

Just gets put on in the late afternoon still as it has all through winter;we don't even have proper double glazing(upvc= nasty),just some secondary glazing on a few North-West facing windows.
