Mines never been left on all winter. Its not been a winter. It might have been on on odd days but generally, no need. We're windows open people anyway, can't stand a hot bedroom.
I could have written this post. our home 1920 s bungalow,9" solid brick, new roof double glazing ect ect, without the log burner the central heating would never be offMy mothers modern bungalow with all the latest insulation hardly needs heating,.
my 30's 9inch solid brick house is a cold building...the new roof is upto spec but the walls just lose heat.
the DG windows help but old houses are costly..
i remeber our house in the early 70's..no central heating and polythene over the windows in winter..
coal burner was nice..
I keep turning it off, but Mrs Pete insists on turning it back on again...
