Why are plastic drinks bottle so expensive??

A large plastic bottle of water from a newsagent (can't remember the capacity - the big ones, not the little ones) fits nicely into a bottle cage. I often leave my water bottle on the side in the kitchen and end up buying one of these. They work no problem. Also, they come filled with water.

I'm on the lookout for a 750ml drinks bottle. I'd expect a plastic bottle to sell for £2 - £3 max but I can't seem even to find one at less than a fiver. Is there something I'm not seeing here??

You are not looking in the right place most of my bottles have been £2-3 or free.

I noticed that Lucozade Sport 750ml bottles fit perfectly into a standard cycle water bottle holder. Cost £2 including the drink. The plastic is not as thick as a 'proper' bottle, but wil last several weeks and it doesn't matter if it gets nicked from the bike.

I always buy the High 5 bottles stuffed with samples. They are usually cheap, especially when you factor in the samples, but occasionally you get even sillier cheap prices on them. About 2 years ago, I bought LOADS of them from PBK.

remove wrapper and the youth can see it isn't lucozade so are less inclined to nick it plus of course the aero dynamic and the weight!

The same applies to every single product for sale, anywhere. So the question remains; why are plastic drinks bottles so expensive?

Because people will pay silly prices for them that is why. As we both know there is a lot of overheads that have to come out of the end sale price, think of say apples as an example, free if you own the tree.

Attend a large cycle race and if you get to the right place you'll have them thrown at you - only used once, quick wash, good as new.

I was gonna say, I seem to find them in the road enuff to keep me going. I wonder how much the production cost is in pence.

I got my last one from the 99p shop, I can't recall how much it was
