even if car has "better brakes" the "thinking distance" is going to be more than braking distance anyway. And I suggest that Merc drivers (typically older) don't have quicker reactions than young hoolligans in Novas

Oh yeah, that must be why insurance is so cheap for 18 year olds with their lightning fast reactions! If you think, you'll find that the facts go against your assertion (or is there another reason I pay about 20% of what a young driver would pay, to drive a car 3 times as powerful?

A 52 plate Citroen, I 'm guessing, has ABS. In which case I question that it has a significantly worse stopping distance, certainly not two times? The stopping distance will surely depend primarily on the condition of the tyres.

Tailgating is still wrong. But a psychological state of mind that you are driving a superior car is a bit worrying too.
of course tailgating is wrong,..we all know that..but people still have to be aware of the car they're driving and it's limitations, that was the argument here.

So there is no concern for tailgaters with worse brakes?

They can't react fast enough to brake.

Their brakes wouldn't stop quick enough anyway.

And that's all if they were even paying attention in the first place not texting their mate, who is a ledge, about a cheeky nandos.

Yes, there's another reason: old people are generally less likely to drive like tits. (Also, and srw will correct me if I'm wrong here, but I imagine that if they experience permanent life-chaning injuries then the payout will be lower owing to less life left)

"old people are generally less likely to drive like tits"..congrats..you come up with a correct statement;)
I'll be sure and let you know if you manage the same, but a quick scan through the last three pages or so doesn't reveal any strong contenders

No, totally wrong about payouts I'm afraid. The payout on a middle age person is likely to be far higher, due to family, and higher earnings.

It'll vary - middle age isn't old age. Old people are terrible drivers and don't have much left to live for, and have an increasing use of class A drugs. Maybe premiums should go up again.
