I know nothing about club rides but it all seems to be taken terribly seriously doesn't it.

I thought that, but on attending a laps of Richmond Park session with Kingston Wheelers (as a new member) a couple of days ago, I was pleased to witness the following...

"K2 riders? What? One person? Come on, people... ok, K2 riders all THREE of you, over there by the sign."
"K3's ? Really ? OK, K3's down by the tree.. Why is everyone still here?
Are you really ALL riding K4? Right, all K4s over there"

I joined a very nice K4 group and managed to keep up (ish) so that went well. And the pint at the pub afterwards was hugely enjoyable.

My good lady could hardly complain when I accompanied my version of a similar (cracking) group to the pub "as I was just trying to fit in"
but when she realised G&T was an option, albeit not in a matching pint (bit mother's ruin that...) we became members (leaders/committee)
