Why people put their hair up and down

I had very long hair until 15 years ago. It spent most of it's time in a pony tail or a gert long plait. The only time it was let loose was clubbing really, if a bit of pseudo-headbanging was needed. Then it got a little shorter until about 12 years ago I had the whole lot cut off. I kinda miss having options but as it was up 99% of the time, it probably doesn't make a lot of difference!

[QUOTE 4731988, member: 9609"]her hair went much shorter years ago - still as beautiful, but that wondrous moment of her hair coming down is now just a distant memory.

The concept of a womans hair coming down is beautifully portrayed in Eva Cassidy's wonderful 'Fields of Gold' song

So she took her love for to gaze awhile upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down among the fields of gold
Will you stay with me, will you be my love among the fields of barley?

I go out with this lady friend for lunch and she puts her hair down. I see her later an sits up.

The same thing happens most of the time even for dinner. The only time i see it up is during bike rides.

Even my SO puts her hair down when going out and then back up when she's home.

The only thing i can think of is hair goes down when not in home territory and goes up when not out and about. Is that right?

I wear mine half up and half down. ^_^
