Why people put their hair up and down

Ah, that's interesting. Do you realise that SO also means Significant Other? As in "life partner"?

I don't know what your usage is, but if you did mean significant other, then surely you would ask her, rather than a bunch of strangers on internet.

I put my hair down about 10 years ago but the for the life of me I cannot remember where.

I put my long hair up for work or when out on a windy day, and in the summer when the weather is sunny as it makes my neck hot and uncomfy. Other than that I leave it down so it's for my comfort whether it's tied up or loose

Sometimes you want long hair out of the way if you're doing something like cleaning the bike or gardening or cooking. Sometimes you want it out of the way if it needs a wash and feels a bit grimy.

And some may think it looks more attractive loose for a lunch date

My hair is very short now so I have no choice.

See i thought the same thing. Why would my lunch date want to look more attractive? Hey, wait a minute! Why would my SO!?
