Whyte Shoreditch

OK first post here, but I've been hanging around for a while.

I'm looking at getting a new commuter hybrid bike mainly for a short ~20 min each way commute through traffic. I just noticed that whyte are about to (have just?) introduced new 2015 models including the "shoreditch"in their fast urban range:

and several places online seem to have it available to buy.

Am looking for any opinions regarding this bike and how it compares to the previous (2014) lineup, where I was previously looking at the "portobello" or maybe the boardman hybrid team

I have the 2011 Cambridge, it's fab. Just done a 28 mile round trip London commute on it. With rack, guards, lots of weight on the back

Depending on your size, you can get an older model here, a £900 RRP and worth it IMO

One thing that leaps out about the Shoreditch is that it has no mudguards, which are essential on a commuter IMO. I can't be certain from the photo, but it doesn't even look as if it has mounting points for guards.

Hadn't even considered the cambridge but those reduced prices are compelling - thanks for the heads up.
Will have to check about mud guard mounts as I think its essential too...

I did struggle to find mudguards to fit my Cambridge as the rear stays are an odd shape, found Bontragers to work. I think these, but I paid £15 fitted

Mine also sports a Topeak rack which this evening carried about 7kg of stuff!!

It has Specialized ergo grips, Marathon + tyres (slow but very puncture resistant), ladies saddle. Cateye computer, other bits like lights. Not changed any components

It stood up pretty well to me landing very heavily on it in an accident (much better than my left leg)!!

Looking at Strava I've done around 870 miles on it, not done anything apart from lubed the chain a few times, given it a clean with some babywipes

I bought it very lightly used off eBay

I was going to buy the Whyte Portobello tomorrow, until seeing the Shoreditch - is this actually for sale? Seems to be a higher spec than the Portobello but for less money - not sure how they do that.

As for mudguards for these bikes - Whyte will sell you ones designed specifically for the range!

I actually ended up getting the portobello yesterday as the Edinburgh bike coop had 15% off. The shoreditch has only one gear at the front but carbon forks, otherwise pretty similar I think.

Hi know this is a bit late but only just found this site. Had my shoreditch for 4 weeks. You can fit mudguards as mine has them. Previous bike very heavy 24 speed Giant cypress se which has been upgraded. I can only say its a jet compared to my old one a cargo plane. Commute 8/9 miles each way up and down reduced from around 1quarter hours to 1hr 4 mins had to use old one while in for first service after took it out for some extra miles (452) in 4 weeks. Slight niggles gear indicator 1970's radio dial and think a better chain set would increase speed. It goes like the wind but can feel more in frame but unable to thrust forward maybe not had it long enough. Finding it a poor hill climber at moment. Have set a special hill climbing route to increase my stamina/experience with it. Would recommend a test ride as I had one. Have used same bike shop for last 12 years they suggested this to me as was looking at spending £1000.00 on the Boardman at the time. Very happy so far. Hope you find the right one for you.

I have had mine for 4 weeks.
Had mudguards fitted no problem also lights computer and shop swopped tyres to marathon plus for free. I go there for everything.
