Ok just to add a couple of things:

1. I assume the wifi network you see at work actually belongs to work? Do you have an intranet? Does the work network expect you to access through a particular portal? For example our work network will not let you across it to the internet without going through its validation portal. Many hotel chains do this, it's the page where they get you to pay for access.
2. Being a bit lazy now but check that when you connect to the wifi network at work it isn't adding a proxy or expecting a proxy (if there isn't one). I could go and figure out where the setting is for this on a Desire but that would mean trekking downstairs and disturbing the missus to find her phone. You should be able to google how to check for proxy settings.

Hope this helps

The main computer is downstairs. When Mrs boss wanted a laptop (god knows why as she hardly uses it) she wanted it upstairs and was told to get a wifi router for it. The walls in the house are about 2' thick stone so you have to be pretty close to pick it up but when my phone does it says signal strength=good. Its just a private thing, not like I work in an office or with a lot of computer use so I imagine its the same idea as i have at home except that mine is secure and not open. Ill go and park outside the library tomorrow and see if i can connect on that as i can do in macdonalds, it seems to be only the work one that is the problem.

Oh and Phil, good idea about the laptop, ill take mine in on monday, or my netbook, and see what happens with that. If its ok it seems that its probably what Crackle said about HTC not liking some wifis.

Thankyou everyone for your ideas tho, its damn frustrating................................
Damn....i might actually have to...<<shudder>>...do some work

Lisa whatever you take in laptop or netbook try to make sure that has never been connected to that router before, that way you will be able to narrow it down to either the router or the phone. Also see if you can find out which linksys router it is, if it is one of the blue ones with 2 antennas I have had problems with those in the past with some laptops not been able to connect to them although it is usually when encryption is used.
