Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Another failure to download that's the third one

You need to go online and find Microsoft software download. At the bottom of the page, you can download microsoft media tool either 32 bit or 64 bit. Try the 32 bit first. If it wont let you download it, then download the 64 bit. Another box will appear when you click on it asking if you want to save or run. Click run, and virtually straight away, it asked me if I wanted to download windows 10. Click yes and it should work. Good luck

managed to sort the needing to sign in by manually adding it to the registry.

sp3 wont wake from sleep everytime, just hangs. disabled the intel graphics driver and it wakes everytime. Hope there's a fix coming, it's annoying.

Updated the Laptop. the wireless connection now seems to have a life of its own, randomly turns itself off, tried updating the desktop twice, failed both times with the following error.

0X1900101 - 0X30018
The installation failed in the first_boot phase with an error during SYSREP operation.

Both these were downloads from the Microsoft site, guess I'll have to wait for the official notification via the tray icon.

Did you do the download as an ISO then burn it to DVD and install it from there.

The first attempt I did it straight from the download, the second attempt I burnt an ISO to a DVD, same error unfortunately, the laptop update was straight from the download, I have read several forums with various answers, seems like it could be my Samsung hard drive.

I must admit I did my laptop only to see how it went as I repair computers for a living so I was curious, but for my main computers I wouldn't even think about upgrading them until an OS has been out at least 6 months. The main problems I got on my Sony Vaio i5 were to do with the sound firstly there wasn't any  then once I fixed that I got a BSOD but now it seems to have settled down. But it is noticeably slower than Windows 7 was on the same laptop and I have a fast CPU and 8gb of ram in it.

Setting the controls for the heart of the sun.
Downloaded it the other day and so far no problems discovered.- Changed from that awful 8.1.
All devices previously recognised have continued to be and load up time compaable with W8.

I have done my partners laptop that was running Windows 8.1. Windows 10 was slow for the first few hours when it first upgraded as it seemed to be optimising applications, drives etc (I am only guessing here - but the CPU and Disc were running high so something was going on). But after it has settled down it is working fast and smooth. Not yet ready to do my own laptop which is running Windows 7 but I do like quite a few of the new features in Windows 10 so I think I eventually will. Have you noticed any improvement since installing Windows 10?
