wasn't it, even in London, strong and some very strong gusts

Bow flyover W bound was quite the adventure, 11mph at one point and London bridge was outright silly, my usual 30mph sprint finish managed all of 18mph

I passed one chap on an MTB out of the saddle straining like he was going up Ditchling, only on the flat, to say he wasn't very aero would be an understatement

I couldn't get down on the drops this morning, it was too gusty and instead of being more aero I was just more unstable. In the end I settled for the hoods and spun like spider.

Despite the forecast, it wasn't windy in Edinburgh at 6am this morning. Very wet, yes - but no howling headwinds like the other day.

Agreed. Most likely means this afternoon's forecast will be wrong and I won't get a strong tail wind home. Doh.

Apparently this is what we are suffering from .. "Outbreaks of heavy rain associated with the remnants of ex-Tropical Storm Danny have been moving north-eastwards across much of Britain and Ireland during the last 24 hours" (from Metcheck weather warning).

Just back from a lunchtime 12 mile ride and boy was it gusty.

Yes windy in Derbyshire as it seems to have been all summer nice tail wind this morning and going well untill quarter way to work and worst nightmare locker key with all spare cloths in left at home ice to in back into the head wind :-( Great start to my 1st day back after days off 10 mile commute turned into 16

Cycled home from Brighton to Hassocks after a night shift at 6am, grim, grim, grim even with the wind behind me.
Not helped by the (usual) muppets who are blind to bright flashing LEDs and hi-vis, grr!
Cycling into the wind tonight..................

Aye I felt like I had been through the mincer this morning as well on my "shorter" seventeen mile commute, I have a section of road that I normally get up to about 20mph or more this morning I was lucky to hit 8-9mph, my average speed was down over 5mph for the trip...

Point is I don't think it's going to benefit me on the way home either as it's Westerly so it will just blow at me from the other side than this morning.

It was mostly across but a bit behind me this morning, though it was right slap bang in my face in some of the wiggly bits. It seems to have swung round a bit, so should still be across me instead of full-on in the face on the way home. Hopefully!

It was a bit blowy this morning in London, but bearable. But you can tell the weather was odd: the motorists were nervous and pulling at the bit......

And I don't think this has been a crap summer. After twenty years of relentless sunshine all summer (I lived in Turkey) coming home to the soft mildness of a British summer is an absolute joy and a delight.

Ye Gods! I've never taken over an hour to get in to work before! 45-50 minutes usually. :hyper:

Yup, windy here as well.

Cycled to the barbers this morning into a heavy headwind - very hard work on the single speed.

The ride back aided by the tailwind and reduced weight (due to haircut) was effortless - even uphill!

How co-incidental!

I too cycled into town to get my hair cut this morning. Although I didnt notice the difference much on that journey; my commute home, wind assisted felt too easy. So much that I joked to myself that my haircut may have helped a little!

Well its a new PB for me! With no extra effort (my HR confirms this)

Wind at luchtime stopped me dead from 12mph lifting me and bike sideways twice. Heavy buffeting the whole ride. Like cycling in a wind tunnel and being picked up and flung around. Any stronger and I reckon it would have been storm force 10 yikes! Checked out XCWeather and it was force 6-8 gusting 9. No chance of relaxing the hold on the bars. Did 13 miles mostly out of the saddle, good training, quite easy as the wind was supporting me as I leant into it. Coming home was quite good although wind had moderated it was still from WSW behind on rear quarter pushing me along nicely. Crap summer though.
