winter clothing ideas

I'm looking for a few extra bits for winter, most notably winter overshoes, i used old black socks last year over the top of my shoes, they worked quite well but i want something better this year, cheaper the better!

also considering new gloves, was thinking of thin running gloves and overmitts or normal cycling gloves with a waterproof overmitt, if anyone has any good links please

any other good, cheap ideas/tips for winter clothing?

Cheaper is not necessarily a good idea for winter kit. When your hands are numb in cheapo gloves 30 miles from home, you will be wishing you'd spent the extra £10 or £20...
