Winter gloves that don't feel like plated armour?

Set off early this morning for a 30 mile spin and despite the day breaking into a lovely sunny morning it was frosty and foggy when I set off. I tolerated a bit of initial chill on my body and legs knowing I would soon warm up, but my fingers (particularly my thumbs riding on the hoods) were freezing in my light fingerless gloves. I've recently tried on a few pairs of winter gloves in Evans but they all just feel as though they restrict movement, other than the really light race type gloves which the lad in the shop told me wouldn't be much use through the winter.

Anyone got a recommendation for some gloves that will keep the chill off but are comfy and don't restrict movement?

How about something like these? Could stick mitts over the top for more grip?

Wiggle have lots - you can get them delivered free, try them out and then if no good, send back for free via Connect+

Tesco sell some,me and the mrs have had ours over a year now and they really have proved to be good, non restrictive, warm and certainly not bulky, not suitable for -3 etc but for chilly mornings the are spot on,12.99 and made by Kampro.

Here for rides.
if it is dry... merino wool gloves with a pair of track mitts over the top do the trick for me, but then I think a lot of cyclists, like a lot of runners, seem to have so little body fat they are cold in situations where I am still too warm.

I wear these down to about 5 centigrade befoe I dig out the heavy duty jobbies - http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CLPXWGLV/planet-x-winter-cycling-gloves

Nice and thin with lots of grip.

I got mine from a Cycling Promotions one day sale for about £8 as well.
