I am looking for some tires which are of a decent quality. I have had Conti CityRide before which have been the best tire I have ever owned (lasted about 10,000 miles) and I still have the front on on my bike.

However, I now have Vittoria Zaffiro on the rear which is giving little grip in the wet. So I now need a set of winter tires which will fit my bike.
I could go with Conti CR again as I am certain they are very good (and puncture resistant) but I just want to know if there are any better ones out there?

They need to be PP really as I commute on stone, glass and sand ridden shared use paths. The Vittoria also does not have very good puncture resistance as I now have a slow puncture from a small peice of glass.

Can't immediately see any reason from your post to go other than the city rides.

My hybrid came with city contacts, a great tyre IMHO and just re-shod for the season.

Vittoria Open Paves are 24s, not the most durable but fantastic grip, in fact I have yet to find better grip wise.

Lower your PSI a bit Matthew and you'll be fine. For what its worth, 25mm Vittoria Rubino's are the only tyre (touch wood) I've had slip from beneath me on a road bike, so I'd rate them poor for grip but other have said contrary. I'm currently running mitch kyrlions and find them very grippy over winter and when they eventually wear out I'll replace them with their successor, mitch pro 4 endurance. In the past I've had Conti 4seasons and they are just as good as the mitch for grip but pricey so I favour the mitch which also wear better.

I run Panaracer Pasella tour guards on the CX and Conti Gatorskins on the Road bike. The Pasella's are 28mm and run at a slightly lower pressure (around 80-90psi) and the Conti's (23's) are run around the 100psi mark. Though the roads i ride are not exactly smooth tarmac.
I Use Vittoria open corsa evo cx in summer on the road bike. In comparison you do notice a difference to the Conti's but the Vittoria's cut up something chronic if used on sh*tty roads. The Conti's are pretty fast rolling, handle not too bad in all conditions and are reasonably long lasting. They seem to be better than average in all areas and don't cost as much as the, previously mentioned, Conti 'all seasons'.
The Panaracers are pretty cheap too. They don't perform quite as well but are genuinely bomb proof.
You could always just run your tyres just now till they let you down. They might surprise you and be in it for the long haul.

Michelin Lithion 2 are pretty good for a cheap tyre.
Bontrager hardcase or Michelin Pro 4 Endurance if you want more puncture protection (and a bigger bill).
