What a start to the day.

Cycling to work this morning, bit chilly, clear skies. Pull off the roundabout, notice the car at a give way on my left, look at driver, she looks in my direction then BAM car pulls out. No way I could stop. Next thing I know I'm on the floor after bouncing over the bonnet. Ambulance arrives, I get checked over. Ambulance crew impressed with my bike, LOL.

Trip to A&E thankfully confirms just cuts and bruises. Abrasion to left shoulder, Right elbow has a slight cut, right thigh has some road rash and I will have one hell of a bruise on my hip. Nothing broken and I'm sent home.

Now 7 hours after, I'm aching a bit and feel a bit sick. Hospital have said I should be OK with rest and pain killers.

Got someone looking after my claim and the driver will need a new windscreen (Not sure if it was me or the brake lever that did that damage.)

So that's me cut and bruised and my Boardman Road Comp a write off (forks twisted and the top tube has snapped, strangely wheel looks fine, may put pics up when I take em)

Did my statement while in A&E (Driver of car has apparently given a different address to me than she did the police), policeman was a fellow cyclist so he knew what I was talking about.

Anyway, just feeling a bit sorry for myself and aching in some weird places.

Be careful out there and be safe.

Gary

I'm glad it not too bad Gaz, sounds like Arallsop had a similar one yesterday, this is a worrying trend :-(

PS I trust the A&E done the relevant checks; I'm no medical expert but I don't like the sound of feeling nauseas, my concern would be concussion.

Anyway Get Well Soon!

Christ..........another. Shoot !

Glad you are OK, oh and watch the shoulder.

Oh well, nice shiny Boardman on the shopping list. Worth seeing if you can hang on to the old one for parts / new build.

Sorry to hear that gaz, just take it easy and recover quickly. Look after yourself. I agree with HL - have you been checked for concussion - it can come later on after the event

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Ouch !!

I hope you heal quickly and have no long term injuries.

If she was giving different addresses then she is trying to avoid a payout and giving false information is a crime in itself , i hope you take her to the cleaners and the cops take her car off her ( it will not happen but we can wish ...)

Seemed the morning for it, on my way home after night shift and had 2 close overtakes when normally the drivers are very good to me round here, the airzound got some use

Thank you everyone.

Forgot to mention, driver said the "Sorry Mate, I didn't see you". I nearly laughed. Thing is though she had seen the car in front of me go passed her

Oh and apparently she's told the police I was speeding (it's a 30mph road) I was lucky to be doing 15mph.

Nausea has cleared now, think it might also be because I've not eaten yet but I'll keep a check on it.

I hope you are feeling better quickly ... do you know if there were any witnesses as well and do you have a second bike?

Sounds she looking for excuses to blame someone else for her bad driving.
If she has given you a different address then that is a very serious offence they need to add to her charge sheet, it's almost as bad as hit and run.
Hope your back on two wheels soon.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Gaz. Glad things dont seem to be too bad injury wise, although I suspect you will be feeling stiffer tomorrow.

Shame about the bike, lets hope you get sorted insurance wise and back on the road soon.

Sorry to hear about this. Hope you feel better soon.

When I got hit last year the driver pulled the "you were going too fast" one. It was a 30mph zone, my Garmin data said I hit him at 16mph as he pulled into my path from the oncoming lane. The paramedic on the scene was laughing his ass of at the speeding excuse.

With damage to the car (was it just a broken windcreen or did you manage to scratch the bonnet too ?) she'll find it hard to wriggle out of it...
