Women Specific Mountain Bike?

Hi chaps, after a few rides out on hired Mountain Bikes I've decided to take the plunge and buy a one.

Hoping to get down to the bike shop in the next few days, but wondered if anyone had any recomendations or advice to get me thinking.

On a fairly strict budget of around £450.

No recommendations, but some advice.

Get some test rides. Don't restrict yourself to women specific models only. Try some mens models as well, and buy what's most comfortable.

I ride a women specific road bike, so assumed I would need the same in a mountain bike. I bought without a test ride, and I'm now faced with changing components (seat post, stem, etc) to get the fit I need, or buying another bike!
