Did anyone know today's word? I had the last three letters, tried the only two I knew would work and was left with "t" for the second letter as the only reasonable guess. Sixth attempt.

Yes.. occasionally crops up in octordle or square word I think. I definitely knew it, a quick 3 for me!

Apparently it’s usually spelled with a French accent on the e.
Étude.
No wonder I hadn’t heard of it.

Never heard of it. Got 2 letters in the right place on line one and another in the wrong place one line 2 so.was.able to deduce the answer through a process of trial and error (basically trying the available combinations and having the word rejected).

It's actually fugue(s). Not the greatest starter word, but I might try it tomorrow.

It’s the old chili / chilli conundrum.
Neither of them look correct to me.
But apparently the UK mainly uses chilli.

also remember this is wordle, so default is US spellings, which at times tests your sense of humor.
