For me as a UK resident it means to wanders round the shops.
Never heard of the US begging definition.

The same for me. The US version can also mean friends turning up expecting food, probably grazing. A form of begging I suppose.

it's a fruit. Don't think I've ever seen one, or would recognise one if I met one.

Maybe you eat it seasoned with sumac.

How would you describe it if you saw one of them?

Well I thought about that so googled it and the answer is.....its definitely a plural.
I'm not a language expert so dont claim that im correct but I thought it was plural and Mr Google tells me it's plural.

I saw a sheep today. I saw two sheep yesterday.

That's a lie. I have seen no sheep at all this month.

Have you asked yourself if "sheep" is only plural and not singular, what is the singular form of the noun actually is?

Shep? - No that was a dog on Blue Peter
Ship? Shap? Shop? Shup? Shp????

Yes yes..... I know it is also singular. I just thought 'wordle' shied away from what I call ambiguous words.
I will know for future.
