Due to ill health I've not been abroad in over a year. I'd really like to hop over the Lanzarote. 2 things putting me off.

1.Jet Fuel shortages - a lot of reports these will start to have in impact soon

2.This new entry system - where from what I can gather finger prints are actually collected and authorised and the airports with resulting queues.

My wife has MS which means standing for any length of time isn't an option. When we book we usually get assistance at the outgoing airport - but not so sure about the overseas airports.

Thoughts ???

Fortunately, I live in Denmark. So I have quite a few countries I can get to in a days driving.

I went through the EES system in Salzburg on my ski holiday earlier this year. It was a breeze there, but I don't believe that is true at all entry points. And while it was all supposed to be fully operational by this month, I don't think it actually is.

But it wouldn't put me off going abroad, whether to a Schengen area country (which are the ones with the system) or not.

Nor would a potential shortage of jet fuel. If the flights get cancelled, we would get our money back.

MrsF did the EES system in Iceland in January. Fine. We're not going abroad this year as got too much UK holidays to do in the van - mix of camping and hotels. More worried about diesel shortages.

One visit is to my cousin at the top end of Scotland. She has been running the Post Office/fuel station in Laide for many years but they are retiring soon. If we go up before they sell, I could ask they keep a tank back for me.....

Yeah it's not the money. My wife is disabled and I'm not in the best of health. If we were to get stranded abroad I'm not sure either of us could cope with it

If worried, look at driving somewhere. The UK is beautiful. Absolutely astounded at some places we've seen along the Welsh Coast...

Oh yeah - I've gone a van down north Wales - I love it down there.

But I do fancy a bit of warm sun.
