Gone abroad..Anglesey. Might as well be as Newbourough Forest is stunning. Never managed to visit as we usually go further North and by the time we pass, the road get's shut off as no parking. Camping this weekend. Even got the bus to do 45 mpg on the way down. Not bad for a big brick.
I love Llannwyn island. We had lots of walks on there.
We were coming back when a couple told us about the twin towers.

Have you considered a ‘staycation’? Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man etc.

Yeah it's not the money. My wife is disabled and I'm not in the best of health. If we were to get stranded abroad I'm not sure either of us could cope with it

Given your specific circumstances, I would personally be inclined not to take the risk. It is very unlikely anything would happen but given the very small chances and the possible repercussions if it did, I'd probably look UK.

EEA has pretty much calmed down, its only the odd queue that gets reported as "news" not the 90% of time when its working fine as that isnt a story. So as long as you avoid start of school holidays etc its not an issue. Book assistance both ways and you'll breeze thru anyway - its available at all airports, even overseas ones, its not something the UK holds a monopoly in!

What is this "assistance" you mention , my health is, surprisingly, improving but getting from taxi to plane is a daunting prospect.

You have the golf buggies to get you to your departure gate or from your arrival gate. You can also get assistance on / off plane if necesary.

Having used the service once due to being in plaster and on crutches I'd avoid the service if possible.
I didn't enjoy the faff to the extent that I didn't use the service on return. However, if you do need the service then it will be invaluable.

We'd read a new story on the delays in Milan resulting in 100 people missing their flight, we were in Malaga at the time so were a little worried.
Got to the airport and it was an absolute breeze, no queues whatsoever for the EES.

We missed a connecting flight changing planes in Canada, trying to get to the US. They had a US security / customs outpost at the Canadian airport which took hours and hours to get through during which time our connection had come and gone. They were surly and hostile too. This was decades ago and I imagine they are ten times worse these days. Think I did a couple more US work trips but not somewhere I'd go to from choice. As an aside a former boss in his previous (senior) role had it written into his contract that he'd not be required to go to the US. He just couldn't be arsed with it. We worked in IT / telecomms so it's where a lot of our suppliers are.

We have just booked a holiday to Rhodes in August.
Made sure we booked a package for extra protection, as we are alive to the fact that aviation flue could get tricky.

all the time, but they usually come out at twice as expensive as anywhere in Europe.

Agreed. Therefore you consider the inconvenience worth the cost difference.
Apparently Greece is abandoning the EU requirements for some of its island resorts.

depends really, Im sure the EU stuff will settle down after time, whilst noting some of the budget airlines have always flown to airports where border staffing has been a problem and I doubt will ever get resolved.

but like I remember booking a 10 day holiday down in Cornwall, must be 25 years ago now, fair enough stayed in a hotel which maybe had delusions of grandeur that its fixtures & fittings no longer lived up to, but it must have cost best part of £800 for travel, food, drink, cost of entry to all the places you visit, hotels etc etc, and my friends were booking 10 day holidays to places like Greece, full board, flights for probably a quarter of that.

Ive wanted to goto the Isle of Wight, with my bike for years to cycle round the island, reminisce about old family holidays there, but the ferry cost alone, I could fly to Greece for cheaper than theyre quoting. I look at the accomodation costs, out of season too, and for sure Im limited by my OCD about where I stay, but Im getting quotes on average of about 700 quid for a weeks stay, so we're already pushing 1k, with fuel to get there + ferry, for a weeks holiday and I havent even paid for any food or drink or visited anywhere yet which is probably going to double the accomodation costs at least, so £1400 for a 7 day holiday.

whereas I could sail across the atlantic on the Queen Mary 2 for that kind of money, literally Im not joking Cunard have got a 14day, so twice as long, transatlantic cruise there and back for £1749 this autumn and all your food is included, alcohol is extra, but tea/coffee is free.

The one thing I've noticed...how few aircraft contrails im seeing headed outbound from London.
Going back pre pandemic, the skies used to be criss crossed with them, pandemic and a few years after, very very little ...even now, im not sure traffic has met prepandenic levels (only judging by the lack of contrails compared from memory)

And now...there seem to be even less..
