Well they're following the possible formation of a similar party here, as well as possibly one in Ireland.

I'm following them, and getting updates from them and the Irish one.

Not a chance. It's too far; the roads are unsafe to cycle in the dark IMO, I have too much to carry, and I don't have a fixed place of work.

Even if I were to be paid and save the 3.5k pa I pay to get to work. I really cant envisage being able to do the 45 miles each way....

I drive 22 and cycle 13 each way. If you are heading in to London then the last bit is quicker on the way in too.

Whilst I don't get paid to commute to/from my place of work by bike, I do get paid 15p/mile for using my car to take me to places other than my usual office for work related business (training courses, off site factory visits etc).
As of January this year, I get paid 20p a mile if I use my bike for those trips, can't argue with that.

I work from home. I suspect riding down the stairs in the morning might be fun. The return journey in the evening sounds challenging, perhaps I should give this one a miss

This summer my employer ran a cycle challenge & there was some evans vouchers for highest miles. I commuted more than normal & with a few recreational rides I think I clocked up 200 miles more than anyone else. I ended up with £80 in vouchers 3 t-shirts & 3 mugs, so kind of got paid to cycle to work. I did act as an extra incentive for me & hope they do something similar again

Wait a minute in the UK there is a cycle to work scheme where people get subsidies to buy a new bike. I have not heard of a drive to work scheme where you can get a cheap car.

If you decide to ride to work off your own back then you are saving money on petrol and servicing. But you dont have to, you can drive and get the subsidy.

We are in a take, take, take society.

How about not thinking of trying to take something from the Company for nothing. And letting them keep their money to build the Company to keep you in work. Or if you think that little of the Company, leave and get another job.

I have a 24 mile round trip cycle to work and often start work at 5am. I dont get paid for cycling, it is my choice.

I think it's a good idea, those of us who already cycle would get a small reward, and more importantly it might just be the push to get some others to cycle.

I get paid work related cycle miles but it's over half the car mileage rate, so others decide it's better to drive than use their bike for those journeys.
