It was a bit of a research backwater in the 90s so I changed careers unfortunately after a few years of post doccing. My current job title is just about to become house-husband/entrepreneur. Mind you, if ever there's a documentary about Chernobyl I'm the guy going "you've got to be f****** kidding me" when they start talking about the doses the rescue workers took.somthing really cool about this.
Do you ever get to say "I'm a nuclear physicist" when asked "so what do you do?"
Just before jumping I did have a job interview at Sellafield to do something called Gamma-Ray Spectroscopy at the low-level waste site in Drigg. I spent two days on site and, putting aside controversy and state secrets, it's one of the most fascinating places on earth.
