X member is now following you....what does it mean ??

I have just had a notification that says "X (member) is now following you".
What does it mean ?
Why would anyone do that ?

it means they get notified any time you post something.
They might do this because they like what you're posting, or because they are stalkers
There is a way to block a follower, would you like me to look into it?

No, you won't.
If you follow someone, whatever they do on the forum comes up in their news feed, which is on top of the page, under the "what's new" sliding bar.
If you like, try following me, so you can see what I mean.
If it's annoying you, you could ask them politely to unfollow you.

Check the username of the person, see if they're male or female.

Check your profile page.
Quickest way of getting there is to click on your username, then on it, your username, again in the piece it brings up.
