Did Christmas in Tenerife a few times now and always loved it. New year over there was pretty good as well. Lots of golf for Mr M? :becool:
Spot on
Mr M and brother go golfing and I work my way along the coast on a bike :okay:
Some naughty wee stops along the way

This year, I haven't felt very christmassy at all. Maybe the weather has had something to do with it. We have either had sun, or wind and rain. Very little frost and no snow.
But, as an old curmudgeon, I am fed up with Christmas by November, given that it now starts (or at least shops start ramming it down our throats) as soon as August Bank Holiday has passed....

Really enjoy it here - just the two of us doing stuff we both enjoy. Great time to chill and relax even more than we usually do.

Don't bother too much with pressies as we both don't really want for anything - we just do a few small pressies to open over a fizz breakfast etc.

You seem to have cracked it, sounds perfect 👌

No. Apart from 2016, and those circumstances will never be repeated, I haven't enjoyed it in over thirty years, doubt I ever will again.

As a kid it was always a magical time, a group of us used to sing carols to our elderly neighbours -no money changed hands. Now older it had lost it's magic. I enjoy giving cards and gifts but that is it. For us it is a chance to relax for a week, no alarm, no work just doing as we please. It is too commercial, we are bombarded with adverts telling us that christmas is about spending a fortune on gifts and food-that is how you prove your love. Very few people can afford to spend a lot of money so it does put a lot of pressure and stress on people. Then of course tomorrow folks will go crazy in the boxing day sales, not us no way :headshake:

Am somewhat ambivalent....

A time that has long lost its meaning. Whilst no longer religious, I like the religious aspects, a story/time of hope, light in the darkness, new beginnings, peace to all men etc. As an ex choirboy I love the common hymns and carols and the less well known ‘Christmas’ works.

I dislike the commercialism, the expectation, the stress it puts people under to make it special and to follow the ‘norms’ expected. I’d love that it was a time to get the family together, but could never relax properly to fully enjoy. It never helped that one went from the stress and fatigue of getting work finished for Christmas, and then being thrown straight into the deep-end of the ‘festive season’ without drawing breath (usually wrapping presents into the small hours of Christmas day) and a lot of travelling to Devon and London. Am also not a good receiver of gifts....
So mixed feelings.....

Now separated from Mrs FF (kids all grown-up) will miss the greater family gatherings but with @Hill Wimp will meet-up for dinner on Boxing day which am looking forward to.
Otherwise, we are quite free to do as we wish...and somehow it still seems frantic!

I understand what you mean about work, we finished on Christmas Eve, I continued working until the party started, could not leave it until we go back as it would be playing on my mind. Always takes a few days to break out of the habit.
Enjoy your time x
