Just remember which County gave you Accrington Stanley.
"The world’s first ever football club – Sheffield FC – was formed in South Yorkshire on 24 October 1857. The founders, Nathaniel Creswick and William Prest, also pushed through the writing of a commonly accepted set of rules: the ‘Sheffield Rules’. Their innovations include the first crossbar, corner kick, throw-in and the first floodlit match.

The club is the oldest surviving football club to boot, celebrating 160 years in the business of balls."

I actually work with 2 Lancastrians...……….
They're quite decent lads, but that's mainly due to one attending Leeds University, & now living in Wakefield
The other married a Wakefield girl, so is semi-domesticated

Typical south-centric BBC there - there was no "south" Yorkshire in 1857. Sheffield was in the West Riding until 1974.

Anyways, happy Yorkshire Day to one and all, even those not fortunate enough to have been born in God's Own County.

My mum's cousin who I shared a weekly drink with down the local pub was a 'proud Lancastrian' who came over here as a four year old refugee from Halifax! He never mentioned where he was born to folk. In fact it wasn't even mentioned at hid funeral eulogy.:secret:
