Mine was solo, and for timetable-related reasons, I had to be in Apt on a certain night.

Almost totally unrelated - quite a good brain-scratcher to pass time on a journey is to see how many three-letter towns or cities in France and/or Britain you can think of. There aren't as many as you might think. A mad tour would be one that visited them all.

France also has a one letter town, Y, in the Somme.

... and a two-letter town - appropriately called Eu - on the Normandy coast, near Le Treport.

In my book there's no such thing.Did the North Sea Cycle route (EV12) in 2010 fully laden best day northern Germany 88 miles, worst full cycling day 18 miles Bamburgh to Wooler in Northumberland. Cycling into the strongest headwind. It was quicker to get off the bike and push!
Thats the beauty and flexibility of cycle camping.
