Most of our rural puddles have diesel and a variety of other less than pleasent additives - many of which can have a deliterious, but invisible, effect on the integrity of the constituent parts of a lid, potentially reducing it's effectiveness when it is required in an emergency sitiuation like bonce bashing into the ground.

You're quite right but in this instance. where there's no sense, there's no feeling.

Every few years a powerful storm reveals a 3000 years old forest on a beach along Poland’s Baltic coast. The beach lies far from any settlement and can only be reached by riding several kilometres from the nearest beach entrance. This is possible usually only in winter, when the beach surface is deeply frozen and firm enough to cycle across.

Hi - this is my first time in this thread

The flooded river Yvel south of Loyat yesterday.

There’s a wooden footbridge in the distance (on the right of the photo). Access to both ends of the bridge has been cut off by the water.

This bridge is part of the GR37 national footpath. As there are no diversion signs in place, I guess any long-distance walkers will need to find their own alternative route.

As rain is currently forecast for every day between now and 11th February (and probably beyond), it looks like it’ll be (at the very least) a few weeks before the bridge will be usable again for joggers, walkers, mountain bikers and anyone hoping to access a small fishing lake.
