Possibly missing a gate from aeons ago. Westholme lane from last Sunday. This lane was on one of my regular night ride / training routes from years ago and even though I knew the stone post was there, every time I passed it I thought that it was someone stood at the side of the road in the dark! Must have been the way my front light caught it.

A missing railway line (Darlington to Tebay via Barnard Castle) at Tarn Lane between South Cleatlam & Little Newsham, closed and lifted in 1965. About a mile east of here is the site of Winston station, now the depot of John Dickinson transport, with the goods shed remaining. The station building and platform survived until 2002. A couple of miles to the west is Broomielaw station, hidden down in an overgrown cutting. I don't know what's left of it now but I had a look about twenty years ago and it was remarkably intact back then, wooden platform buildings and all. Hmmm, I have an idea for another bike ride.....
