The River Tone blocking my planned ride today.
Old railway bridge north of St-Léry on yesterday’s ride. The line ran north from Mauron to St-Méen-le-Grand and la Bohinière where it connected with the main Rennes to St-Brieuc line.
The line was closed to trains in the 1960’s and became very over-grown. It was cleared about 20 years ago when there was a campaign to re-open the line – but that got bogged down in public enquiries (enquêtes publiques) and it has now reverted to being a jungle again with trees growing on it. I very much doubt that the line will ever re-open.
The white gates on the other side of the bridge are one of the entrances to the private Chateau du Lou
