Yet another fox / badger encounter, at 8:30 last night. This time it looked like fox was determined to stand its ground, but the slow* advance of badger tested its new-found courage. Just noticed that badger appears to have a split right ear, so probably not one to back down if it comes to physical conflict.
*~10 seconds difference between 1st and 3rd frames.

D*ck pics from today's ~10km walk from Bakewell to Great Longstones and back via Little Longstones and Ashford in the Water.
Three young(?) Goosanders just upstream of Bakewell on the Wye, and a single Tufted Duck downstream of Ashford.

Saw a video on youtube of a badger / fox encounter. The badger grabbed the fox by its paw and just shook it like a large dog with a fluffy toy. The badger ain't backing down and if it comes to violence it won't be a fight as such, just the fox getting a hiding.

I ride a dead end road each morning and evening, and see armadillos grubbing in the grass verges for food. Unfortunately there are a few businesses along the road with vans in and out, and the armadillos are killed. I see two or three each year that have met their demise.

Nice - I've only ever seen baby ones hiding under logs

Very autumnal now and the wildlife are changing. On yesterday’s ride I had a red admiral butterfly still visiting the remaining flowers and swallows flying over the fields. At the same time big skeins of Pink footed geese are arriving from the arctic. Definitely transitioning times.
