Periodically I get a buzzard in the garden (perching alwaus on the same tree). But making coffee after breakfast and got a glimpse of Red Kite, at least 90% confident but only a brief glimpse as it flew over. Watched for another 10 mins but didn't return. But 20 mins later I assume same individual flew back and good clear view and was a Red Kite. Unusual (maybe even a 1st) for Red Kite in the garden.

Lots of arterial roads around the 'new town of the 70s' Peterborough are bordered by trees, often 30 or 40ft wide so they have become a haven for wildlife. Even though theyre so close to housing, theyre kinda isolated islands so you'll often see deer creeping out of them. Because a lot of them verge dual carriageways as well, roadkill attract the hoover upperers..magpie are very common, when it was raining heavily the other day I saw a buzzard, perched quite.low in the treeline, looking quite forlorn in the rain.
1977, you NEVER saw buzzard round here, now theyre quite common, often see them perched atop the dual carriageway lights, occasionally see them swooping at the edge of the dual next to the treeline. Bit of a precarious life. Oddly, while red Kite abound round here, you'll never see them taking carrion from the same areas.
