I've not read the whole thread, but my contribution for what it is worth.

I want to die quickly! I don't mind when, as once you are gone it is of no consequence to yourself. It may be hard for my loved ones but life goes on and these things happen so my belief in human nature tells me that the ones I leave behind will be mostly ok in the long run.

If I died tomorrow I am happy that I have enjoyed all my life to this point so overall I have won. I am not afraid of pain so don't even mind if death takes a few minutes to arrive after a terrible accident but I definitely don't want to slip away slowly over a few weeks or even a couple of years with a terminal illness.

I also don't want to die as a result of showing off as I would like to think I am too smart to do something that daft!

Oh, and by the way, I am 41yrs old today

Having already died on the operating table and been brought back(no bright lights or tunnel, just a doctor putting his knee on my throat. To stop me throwing up again) I can't say I'm in a headlong rush to meet it, however I hope it doesn't cause too much trouble.

I've had one trip, courtesy of an undertaker. Maybe the next will be a bit more dignified.

I'd never really given it much thought before last week when I lost my best friend at 31. He had fibrosis and cancer so neither could be treated with seriously affected the other! Luckily it wasn't either of them as that would have been a long, drawn out affair and he had a heart attack in his sleep whilst in hospital so didn't suffer from a long, drawn out painful death.

Personally I want to be on the bike when I go, doing something I love and going quickly and pain free. Failing that asleep in my bed with my body and mind still intact

I know what you're saying about "mind still intact". I reckon being mentally impaired might be harder on the loved ones than on the sufferer. They could be blissfully happy. Oblivious to all else but happy.
