Laser Scanning Operator. Using a surveying scanner, or a precision arm mounted scanner for components. The software is the hardest part. I've been doing this for about 18 months. Steep learning curve.

Prior to this I've worked in factories. I don't miss that at all, nice to visit factories, and not have to work in them.

I have been so lucky that I got into IT when it was in its infancy

I owe it all to my first computer, the ZX Spectrum and then progressed to the Amiga and then got a job that had a few PC computers which I learned by buying a book and reading it on the bus to and from work

The rest is history!

I would say that when I first saw email, I never thought it would catch on!

If you enjoy working outdoors and have an eye fore detail (aka OCD), then landscape gardening, golf course/sports ground/park maintenance etc. Collecting supermarket trolleys from the car parks.

At the insistence of the current secretary of state, we are just starting to move across from fax to email.

Chef, used to work in hotels and restaurants now in a care home. Much better work/life balance.
