What!!!
You havent met my wife! I'm not sure she would be too happy with bikes in the bath. I can just about get away with doing stuff in the kitchen, but the bathroom would be off limits!
So, the room where food is prepared for ingestion is fine to clean/wash/oil/lube a bike (in Mrs Beebo's mind), but a room specifically set aside and well designed for cleaning is off limits.....

If you dont have a mat. Strip your bike down in the bath. You can give the bike a pre strip down wash without getting the drive wet. You'll also catch everything that drops off but don't forget to pit the plug in the plug hole.
Now say that with a South African accent......cos it's how imagine it being said

Don't waste time cleaning it, ride the damned thing, its what it was built for. ^_^

Being an Engineer, I believe mechanical things should be maintained at the peak of their efficiency. Grotty parts of the transmission meant more effort to make them work.

Blinging up bikes gives a good impression to the non-believers and adds to poseur power.

Watch you fingers when cleaning your chain on a fixed gear bike, I am pleased to say I have ^_^

Oh god yes. Don't do what you might do on the geared bike.

I'd rather ride it than clean it.

Don't clean your bike tomorrow, when there's time to clean it today, (including the chain).

Time spent cleaning bikes is not included in your allotted time on Earth...........................
Actually, it just occurred to me that the increase in lifespan due to cycling is probably offset by the time spent fettling. With these sage words of advice, I'm off to purchase something cycling-related online (which will no doubt need fettling eventually...)
