Check the sig; knocked off 75 miles today.

Offically it was a 100km Audax out of Forfar (excellent event) but I got lost, not once but twice   so 62m turned out to be 71. After checking in with the final control, did a run out and back to make up the milage, just had to be done.

This is my second such event, the first was a lot quicker, as I rode as part of a group, (well hung off the back to be more precise), today I could not keep up with the pace, so it was a very much a solo effort and the time and speed reflect this. The westerly wind (gale more like  ) was incessant and dispiriting towards the end but I got to the final control before the time limit so I'm a bit chuffed with myself.

Twice round Richmond Park mostly off road with Master James B, once round was with the local Skyride and was a lot of fun, finally James is getting the hang of climbing hills, only one grump coming down one hill on the road a girl roadie was hard on her brakes in the middle of the road making it impossible to overtake her so a disappointing top speed of only 31.5 mph .

A nice 20 mile battle against strong gusting winds (tail wind was perfect / headwind almost came to a stop) oh and the best part of the ride, I watched a Boy racer (souped up Corsa) with all the trimmings and loud music being taken off by the police for failing the breath test.

Seems the naughty boy hadn't recovered from the night before  ... don't think his Chav Girlfriend was too impressed being left by the side of the road for someone to pick her up

The strong winds didn't seem to bother me much with the broad smile on my face after watching that

Late afternoon ride out to the beach on the north shore then a sweeping loop inland on Route 2, where thankfully the shoulder is smooth and wide. 32.8 miles in 2 hours 1 minute at 16.7 mph. Light Sunday traffic, made up mostly of holidaymakers with out of Province licence plates. One dead pungent skunk!

Quick late evening ride to Stockbridge and back. Plenty of up, sun and rabbits plus the odd kestrel (bird, not the pick-me-up of choice for gentlemen of the road).

Excellent ride out with the lads today, but got told off about having a sqeeky chain, and warned it will snap if I do not clean and oil it, told off about my bike being dirty, told off about having dirty spokes which will cause them to break? and told off three time's for riding abreast on an A road.

Not a lot going for me today, but I felt good.

(If I was not so drunk at the moment I probably could be able to spell sqeeky but I'm unable to do so at the present and cannot fathom ought, how to spell it. but I know its wrong)

I don't clean my spokes, they're fine, maybe you dipped your wheels into a mud bath? Was all that including riding abreast from a club or something? I'd not go out with them again unless they were winding you up

13 miles before work...nice before the traffic starts, out of town, just into the countryside then turn round and head for work. Dangerous stuff.....i might decide not to turn round one day ;)
