Went out for one of my last rides for a couple of weeks, I've been looking forward to it all week but 3 miles in and I got a p*nct*re (small shard of glass straight through tyre and tube) and fell off bike (down in a heep as clips on). So fixed at road side and got home thoroughly peed off.

Now I'm going for a small operation this afternoon so I hope my luck has changed.

Well my rides this week have been interesting due to an impromptu visit to my partner's parents, they live in a rather hilly area of europe. Oddly enough my ave speeds on a few 20 mile loops haven't been lower than my aves around Cambridge. I managed to shattered my ave speed record yesterday; 29.3mph ave down a 6.5mile stretch of road, all down hill up to 23% gradient I;m now debating if it's ethical to enter it into cyclogs or not ;).

Did my first 10 miler today - took a detour around the block to hit the magic 10! I just wish I lived somewhere flat!

I remember my first outings on the roadbike, 10 miles, red face, jelly legs and heaving lungs ;)
Now i do 50 miles....red face, jelly........only joking

Before long, 10 will seem inconsequential, you'll see. Keep it up, it'll soon be 15, 20 and so on.

Hillclimb today - 1.3km with an ascent of 41m. This is Norfolk after all... It was a pretty good turnout of 41 riders (youngest was 4 on the back of a tandem).

Anyway, came 2nd with 02:06, 3 seconds behind the winner.

Ah, first loser then Will:biggrin:

Well done, though, I suspect you may have won if it were hillier?

I'd like to think so ;) This was more of an uphill sprint than a climb.
I'm not sure what his strengths are - I'm joining his (and HeartAttack's) club in a few weeks so I might get to find out.

Weather too good to miss.
Macc Forest was a bit hard, was too busy chatting with 2 other guys from Manchester only realised near the top I was still in the 50 cr.. that'll teach me to concentrate a bit more.. as they spun away, I was thinking how they doin dat..?

All done on 300ml water as I didnt even fill my water bottle fully up... and a hi octane Lucozade and CoOp choccy brownie (recommendable) at the the finish

I did a 25 TT yesterday so it was a nice slow light run in to work today. Lovely and cold this morning. Oh how I love wearing warm cosy tights.
